Home sick from work today, which was a bummer because it takes so long to earn sick time, but I’m grateful I have a job where I actually earn sick time… Baby went to Grandma’s house so I had time to sleep.Thought I would get maybe one thing done around the house at least, but naturally that didn’t happen.

Well, it gave me time to study up on current issues climate change. I recently had the opportunity to attend the Climate Reality Leadership Corps training in Chicago with former vice-president Al Gore. I am now trained in delivering a presentation on the current reality of the climate crisis to groups. I practiced tonight on my dad and he seemed pretty interested. I also found I was able to answer his questions, so that gave me some confidence.

I’m looking forward to going out and spreading the word to help protect my kids and yours! As the bodybuilders say, “let’s do this!”

Hot baby

, , ,

My baby is now a year old. As I look back over the year, I’m reminded of the heat of last summer. July 2012 was the hottest month in the United States on record.

I often think about what it means to bring an innocent baby into a planet in crisis. I look at him everyday with a big smile, but in the back of my mind I’m apologizing to him for not doing more sooner to help protect this planet he’s inheriting.

There is so much to be hopeful for, there is so much change happening. People are starting to wake up about climate change. Individuals are speaking out and taking action. There are groups like Citizens Climate Lobby working with our government to pass climate legislation. Let’s all join them.
